My 2001 Ford Ranger Struggles to start at random times making a grinding noise. Had my battery and alternator check and it's fine. I suspect it's the starter. If it is the starter should I go OEM or aftermarket?

Aftermarket should be fine, they come with warranty, but check flywheel teeth and looseness while starter is off. Rotate and look for worn teeth.
