2011 F250 Transmission Question

Hello there
I have a 2011 F-250 with the gas 6.2 and my issue is when I first start the motor no matter what time of day it is. I’ll let it idle down and when I put it in drive it will take a moment to engage into gear. It does not do it when you put it in reverse and it will not do it no other time during that day only when it is cranked for the first time.
I took it to my Ford dealership and the service manager said he would recommend that the fluid and filter be changed out and have the  computer reprogrammed. I’ve never heard of reprogramming to help this particular problem. I’ve had this truck for 3 years now and it’s great. I don’t drive it everyday. We have it to haul our pull behind camper.
I’m scared it might be a transmission solenoid needing replaced.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The service guy is right. A tranny fluid and filter change (which is a regular maintenance item) might help your problem.

Programming updates should also be performed to address bugs in the original firmware. (just like desktop computers)

if the problem is only a solenoid then you would be lucky. That's a relatively easy thing to fix on a tranny.
