Hello. Im 18 and I have a 2011 ford escape. It is the 2.4l 4 cylinder. Currently it is at 89,500 miles. I am looking to make this car last as long as possible. I'm going to change the transmission fluid at 90,000. I also change the oil every 5,0000 miles. It also just got all new tires put on it. What else should I check and do to make this car last as long as possible? Thanks.
When you get that transmission fluid changed, make sure it’s just a drain-and-fill with OEM genuine Ford fluid. DO NOT have it flushed. At 90K miles, it’s also a good idea to have all the spark plugs replaced as well as the coolant. Check your owner’s manual for the exact mileage interval on those things, but generally they come up around 90K-100K miles.
Hello!
'I also change the oil every 5,0000 miles'
Do you mean 5000 miles?
If you want it to last longer, try to drive conservatively, monitor oil level, pressure in tyres. When cold, don't rev it over 3000 rpm.
What engine do you have? If interference one with timing belt, change the timing belt and water pump at 100k miles.
Good luck!
keep it clean and you'll prevent many problems. you are however nearing the 130-150K mile mark which is when many problems being to pop up. Mine hit 150 and the throttle body went out then the HVAC valve went out and my outer tie rods are making a squeaking noise when I turn the steering wheel. Besides those problems its been a good car, Best to you mate!
