2011 Honda Accord, leather seats, navigation, automatic transmission, 2-door coupe.
It has around 85k miles and its listed for $6k.

Would it be a good buy?
thanks

Only if a professional mechanic checks the engine & transmission thoroughly, before purchase.

If either needs any major work, walk. There are plenty more Accords, which are healthy, on the market.

Price depends on location, but bargain hard.

Will do! I think the transmission issues only affected older models, but I might be wrong. Either way, they are fundamentally good cars no?

Yes, the Accord is a solid choice, after the Camry. They’re both excellent choices, and the best in segment.

Definitely have a mechanic inspect it. But it sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Should be a lot of life left in it.

great price, might be an oil burner, keep some 5W-20 on hand

Will do, but how do I check to see if it burns oil?

that is a tough question, not sure how a mechanic could see if you have a ring issue, but at that price and checks out, could be worth the gamble

i have that engine and it is burning probably one quart per 4000 miles, seems to be getting worse

reminds me of my younger days, fill up with gas, add some oil 😆

These are the only "problems" I could think of on this relatively reliable model:

excessive oil consumption issues with the 4 cylinder engine,

and uncomfortable seats

Check those out, if it doesn't burn oil and you are fine with the seats (and no other problem is apparent), offer $4500 and buy it!

Yeah I’ve heard a lot about those 8th gen seats, but doesn't $4500 seem like a pretty low offer? Many accords around here seem to be priced at around $6k, since their resale value is so high. Thanks anyways!

The price itself is good, I'd buy it even for $6k but hey nothing wrong with haggling a grand or two;)
