Hi Scotty and all.
I have a 2011 Civic sedan (8th Gen) automatic with 70K miles on it.
2 things started happening lately. one only happens when it's cold - I get a kind of stutter when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd at low RPM's. if I go above 2.5K RPM's it's almost unnoticeable. when the car warms up about half way it disappears. I started warming up the car idling for about 5 minutes, When I do that is doesn't happen so I tried driving today after only 1 minute of idling and sure enough it stuttered so I'm going to let it warm up for 5 minutes every time but what could be the cause of this?
second thing happens all the time warm or cold. when I let go of the throttle and reach really low speeds like 8 MPH or so, if I push the throttle again there's a slight delay and then a feeling of an aggressive shift or maybe engagement of the clutch I'm not sure what it is.
Odds are that your transmission is having problems. Have you changed the transmission fluid yet?
Yes did that October 2019 it had the stutter back then so the mechanic also cleaned the torque converter and the stuttering went away now it's back.
Maybe the lost of power is referred to a vacuum leak?
Try a tube of Lubegard Shudder Fixx #19610. It may help and doesn't cost as much as a trans rebuild. There is also one made by Lucas but I can't remember the name of it.
Will do. Hope it helps.
Can anyone tell me what might be the cause of theses problems? Clutch? Gears? Sensors?
it does it seem to be from the clutch since you experience it in the higher gears. Ask a professional mechanic who works on transmissions to check the transmission with high level scan tool to find outback the issue.
Ok. It's actually only in low gears and low RPM. High speed/gears everything is smooth.
Hello again guys.
thanks everyone for the help.
I wanted to ask what would be the best additive for my Civic? like I said 2011 8th gen 5 speed auto with the 1.8L 4 Cyl engine.
I don't want to make a stupid colossal mistake by using the wrong additive or adding too much of it.
@DOC suggested Lubegard Shudder Fixx #19610 or Lucas (I'm assuming) transmission fix does anyone have experience with these or the car and knows what would be a better choice? what would be the right amount to add w/o draining any of the tran fluid?
