I have recently sold my Toyota Highlander 2018 to my brother in law and few days later his engine light came on.at first it says the spark plug worn off so he changed it but then it came back aging.so he took it to the dealership in New Jersey for cheap price of the parts but they handded him a big bill for the repair cost.i Dont know if I can help him with the car because I feel very guilty.please suggest me something...

well he's an idiot to take it to the dealer they always rip people off I've had people take him to dealers and the dealer wants seven Grand and they bring it to me and I fix him for $500

For whatever its worth, I just had my spark plugs replaced on the 2010 Highlander I just bought and it was exactly as much as Mr Scotty said above $500 and change and same deal like $20 for parts and all labor - but thats with dedent rates and honest mechanic I trust.  I guess the way that Highlander is designed its a process to get to those.  Exactly how much was his charges vs what we said?   At least he can take comfort in knowing that he wont have to do those for a while and over the long term hws got a sweet durable and economical ride.  Hopefully he learned a positive lesson and finds a good mechanic.  Maybe you can forward him a link to this forum or Mr Scottys youtube video about Highlander tons of great news and posts about Highlanders here!

Not to say it’s impossible but I’ve never heard of a code specific to spark plugs? And how many miles are on this car that it’s an 18 and not under warranty? What did they do to fix it?
