2011 Honda Fit Sport Rattling Noise

Hi Everyone,

New member here, hope you all are having a nice holiday. I am having an issue with my 2011 fit. The car has 118k miles. There is a metal clacking/ticking sound between 1500-2000 RPM as well as around 2800-3000 RPM.  I change the oil every 4-5k miles, and the valves have been adjusted as well. My mechanic checked the pulleys and everything seems in order. I have read around the Honda Fit forums and they mentioned a loose heatshield behind the motor. Maybe an exhaust leak? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

What you should try is to rise your Fit up safely - place on solid jack stands, … than crawl under and "strum" all heat shields, etc., … one at the time. All along the engine, transmission and exhaust system in particular. That way you should be able to locate a loose one, or one missing an attaching screw.

Also, check dust shields around front discs. These at time may get loose, … or bent a bit and make noise as a result at certain speeds.

Noise is usually induced by harmonics - a natural frequency of the component. Excited just right by a passing air, … or a specific RPM of a component of drive train, … and voila! Check for all of that, …
F.S.
