A/C Issue 2018 Honda CR-V

Topic starter

Recently my wife turned on the A/C for her 2018 Honda CR-V and it started making a jack hammer like noise on the passenger side of the car. Turned off the A/C and recirculation but kept the fan still on and the noise was still there. Is the culprit the blower motor under the glove box? For more context when she did have the A/C on it was blowing out cold air like usual with the noise going.

a jack hammer like noise

that sounds like faulty temperature blend door actuator skipping gear teeth.

look at the temperature actuator like I said. Service manuals are here: https://lemon-manuals.la/

Only other thing I can think of is some kind of weird AC compressor issue. You can rule that out by taking off the serpentine belt.

It could be, or it could be some debris got into the fan. What does your cabin air filter look like? (Usually fan motors will make squealing noises when the bearings are worn.)

Hard to tell the source from a video but that sure sounds like it's coming from under the hood rather than the blower inside the car.

@chucktobias Correct. I did clean the cabin air filter and and took apart the blower motor and everything seemed fine. It is coming from the passenger side. Could it be a faulty temperature blend door actuator as stated above?

It could be if that's the area the sound is coming from. If it's coming from the engine compartment you have an entirely different problem.
