[Solved] Should I buy this 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring?

Hello! I'm going to purchase a 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring tomorrow from a private individual. It has 214,000 miles! However, it passes all the basic tests that Scotty indicates in his videos to check when buying a used car. And it is in immaculate condition with great documentation of the maintenance history.

Given the high mileage, are there any steps you would take maintenance-wise to increase the life of the transmission or other systems?

Thanks!

I also would stay away from the Odyssey. I worked on a few of these for other people and they don't seem to hold up like other Honda vehicles. One of them randomly started smoking into the passenger compartment at highway speeds with a family inside. The owner called me frantic on the side of the road thinking it was on fire. I could never get the van to reproduce the issue but I checked everything out that I could think of and sent him on his way. It never did it again but that was one of the weirdest calls I have ever received. That particular van had many other issues as well.

Other Odysseys that I have experience with have transmission issues, automatic sliding door problems, engine overheating, and A/C problems. They seem to pop up on a regular basis with way more issues than any other Honda.

If you end up buying the Odyssey, I wish you the best of luck and that one has lasted a pretty good while already. Any problems you may have I'm sure can be worked out here.

I would avoid that car. The 2011 model year has lots of issues for the engine and electronics.

Hey all!! Thanks for the good advice. I test drove the van and it was already exhibiting some of the issues mentioned (especially those from the video that Thrust posted). I shook the owner's hand and wished him the best. Back to looking for a vehicle! Thanks again!!!

Do not buy a Honda Odyssey. Given the mileage, condition and documentation, who knows how long it will last.

I might be a bit biased because my parents have a 2016 odyssey and it runs like a dream. That 2011 odyssey is a lot better than the 2010 and below. Just make sure u have it checked because it does have a lot of mileage.
