2017 Toyota Sienna XLE Mold Smell from A/C

Scotty,

My parents own a 2017 Toyota Sienna XLE which they purchased used in about 2019.  There is a moldy smell coming into the cab when the A/C is turned on.  Several trips to the dealer and they say it's a common problem.  They used Frigi-Fresh made by BG and installed a charcoal cabin filter, but these didn't help.  Do you happen to know the cause of the mold smell and the solution?  It's in a fairly dry state, so wouldn't think humidity is the issue.

Thank you!

Scotty's mentioned this problem in a video before. Mold can still grow in there if there's any moisture and something to grow on -leaf debris, etc. Try running the A/C and spraying a good amount of Lysol down in the cowl at the base of the windshield on the outside, where the air gets sucked in by the blower. Make sure it's not on recirculate or it won'tget circulated into the system. The Lysol will kill off the mold.

You can also put an Ozone generator in the van and roll the windows up for an hour or so. That will kill any mold in the dash as well.

Or just get a spray can of Ozium at the auto parts store. This stuff could probably kill the Corona virus.
