Hi Scotty,

Stumbled across your video while getting reviews for a new purchase of a Bronco Sport. From your video I gather your may not think they're gonna last long.

I've been leasing new cars for the last 7 years and since I'm retired now I figured I'd buy one instead.

The good part of my driving is I've never come close to exceeding the milage of the lease. Each lease was for 30k and each car only had less than 18k at the time of return.

So now knowing I don't drive much only local short trips. Each of the previous leases even had 2 vacation trips each also.

Do you think since I don't drive much, that this might be a good investment/purchase? Some trips in a month could be 75 to 100 miles but realistically it's been about 12 miles a day and nothing on Saturdays or Sundays.

Thanks,

Tim

I wouldn’t buy a sport, the new Bronco is also just that, new. No one knows if you’ll get any longevity out of it. If I had to buy one it would be the manual option, 2 door. Also, I am not impressed with Fords Ecoboost motors. They are cheaply made, small motors with to much plumbing wearing down parts way  to soon. I will also add that the bronco has so much tech in it that worries me. The big American 3 use dollar store electronic components which usually fail prematurely.

I wouldn't buy the bronco. The new bronco has the 10 speed transmission which is garbage.

The sport has a 3 cylinder ecoboost in all but the top trim which gets a 4 cylinder. That by itself is enough to keep me far away from it -- the only one that *might* be sort of alright as far as Ford goes costs so much it really doesn't make any sense. It's also built in Mexico so another minus there. IMO you'd probably be a lot happier with a RAV4 if you're buying new. And anything smaller than that personally I'd rather just have a sedan or hatchback, subcompact crossovers in general don't have enough space to justify the cost & fuel efficiency.
