2011 Hyundai Sonata clunking from right side

My sister informed me that she got both front struts replaced from an auto shop. She picked me up today and I still here some clunking coming from her right side. I took a look at both struts and they were still the same struts, the only reason I know is her left side coil spring snapped at one point and they were all still rusty. Then she proceeded to tell me that the auto shop gave her used struts. Isn't that illegal?

It’s always a good idea to mention the mileage of the vehicle in your opening post.

Well, if they charged her for new struts and installed used ones that would be fraud.

So if I am reading this correctly they never replaced the struts but still charged her for it?

No, it isn't illegal to use used parts, and in the past I have requested used struts. As long as she knew that they were used and she was charged for used struts it is all good.

Was the clunking diagnosed to be emanating from the struts? Obviously not since the clunking is still present.

Take it to another reputed front end shop & diagnose the issue correctly, before throwing parts at a problem.

Then again, a 10yr old Sonata is already on its last legs, so your sister may want to consider her options before throwing any more good money after bad.
