How long does it take to change brakes and rotors

I just bought this car and it needs 4 new brakes and rotors. My mechanic quoted me 4 hours of labour. I’ve also gotten quotes for half the labor hours. My mechanic is saying it’s because the other mechanics skip steps and rush the job. Is this true? Does it really take 4 hours to do the brakes and rotors on this car?

My mechanic was saying that it’s important to clean the calliper etc and that’s what takes the extra labour. Is that true?

Brake cleaner is quite volatile and evaporates within a few minutes. If you used dish soap, it would take 4 hours, not to mention the brakes most likely wouldn't stop properly. The mechanic is hosing you. It's a bolts on and off procedure.

No, it doesn't. I could change the brakes and the rotors on that thing at 45 minutes. If I was hurry. You just bolt stuff off and bolt stuff on. It's not rocket science

Scotty is right , it won't take them 4 hours. There just saying that to make you pay for them for 4 hours of labor. I'm a DIY and I can do those in 1 to 1 1/2 hour.
