Hey, Scotty. I made the mistake of buying a 2023 Nissan Versa S with a CVT. I didn't fully understand the problems their CVTs have until it was too late.
I'm planning to get the fluid and filter changed every 25,000 miles. But apart from that, what else could I do to help prevent the CVT from breaking?
Any tips?
Thanks!
Just go easy on it. No towing. No racing or hard acceleration. No rocking it back and forth in the snow, etc.
Even if you change the fluid every 25k miles, there typical lifespan is around 150-200k miles before it completely fails. That's just how it goes. The CVT is driven by a pulley belt. All that strain is going to the belt. It won't last long like a traditional automatic transmission with actual gears. Good luck and pray it lasts at at least 200k miles.
