My wife’s 2012 MDX is burning oil. What could be the issue and how do I go about fixing the problem for good?
thank you for your time
Todd
You'd have to determine why its burning oil. Most reasons are not solvable without an engine rebuild. More than likely worn piston rings, could be bad valve guides/seals too.
The only solvable cause would be a bad PCV valve that's sucking oil too instead of just vapors.
Yes, test or replace PCV valve; most other fixes are major undertaking
Yes. I replaced the PCV valve already. Didn’t fix the problem. Okay I’ll look deeper in to it. Thank you for your responses.
Then that doesnt sound good, google how to do a compression test, or a leak down test if you want to know for sure. But probably just a worn engine. How much oil is it going through? You can drive cars for years if they're slowly burning oil. Just make sure to keep topping it off (this doesn't count as doing an oil change like some people joke about). Also, what's the millage?
