My 2012 Acura TL was stolen from my driveway last week and then recovered in a city about an hour away. I had left my key in the center console, I only have liability ins on my car. I do not have the original key but I do have the second key, the second key battery is dead, will not open doors, etc. The car starts right up but dies immediately, transmission will not engage. I towed my car home with a uhaul trailer. Any ideas where I should start my search for possible cures to my problem? I am thinking something with the theft deterrent system? My second key? ECM? Fuel pressure? Fuses? Any other potential areas to check?

Only thing I can say is pray it's the key there are many locksmiths that travel to houses that work on key systems on cars if you can find one start there because if not your car was stolen there's no saying what kind of damage has been done
Thank you! In the meantime, I searched your website and found a possible cause (blown engine) which might fit my story very well, they stole my car at 2:30 AM and drove it an hour away, they left the car a mess inside.
I will definitely start with the key, but I have used the second key in the past and it worked. After reading your answer to the Mitsubishi Lancer post, I am really leaning to a blown engine now.
I will start with the key then go immediately to a compression test of each cylinder.
