2012 Camry Hybrid battery life

Hi Scotty,

My father in law has a 2012 Camry hybrid with 22,000 miles that he wants to give us and who am I to turn down a free car. My only question is, in your opinion, how much life is left in the battery. Clearly with the low mileage, it hasn’t been used much in the last few years and I’m not sure what that would do to the battery.

Thanks,

Hey, it’s a free car. The Toyota hybrid batteries last on average about 10yrs & 100,000 miles at a minimum. Yes, the usage is very little, but you should be able to check the vehicle’s battery health at your nearest Toyota dealer.

The car hasn’t even been broken in, otherwise. Grab it with both arms open, assuming everything else checks out.

Thank you

Usually those hybrids can last 150,000-200,000 miles.

Usually those batteries go like the others said WORST CASE scenariou 70 80k miles but usually 150k miles and the Toyota batteries can be seen going up to 250k miles so there is plenty of life left.

I have a 2004 Toyota Prius since the beginning.  I got the red triangle of death, aka hybrid battery, at 270K.

You've got plenty of life left in it.

Toyota gives 150K warranty's now on the battery.  So my guess is at least 150K.
