Scotty.

Would you invest about $1,000 and replacing the air compressor and dehydrator and coil for a 2012 fiesta manual transmission with 172,000 mi on it?

Has no oil leaks well maintained do oil changes at every 5,000 mi with full synthetic oils since the car has been brand new I bought it in 2012 with 16 mi on it and I've been only driver ever since, I do about 300 mi a week in the car driving back and forth to work a lot of highway driving. I used to do 500 miles week until I moved closer.

I do live in your hometown Houston so it gets severely hot during the summer as you know and I'm trying to figure if I just buy a new car or if I invest the money into this one the car is only worth about $1,200

Chris

Thank you

What’s wrong with your AC? And are you sure the $1200 will fix everything that’s wrong?

The clutch would stick on the compressor and now the clutch will not even engage the AC was blowing out cold until the clutch went out

That seems high to me. A compressor change with accumulator, flush, labor and recharge shouldn’t be more than 700-800 max. Shop around. I just bought a new compressor, not a rebuilt for mine for less than 200. And accumulators are cheap usually,

Yes the compressor ranges from $450 to $500 and those are for new ones. That's not including the coil and dehydrator or recharging the system which cost about $250 to pull a vacuum and then refill

There’s other companies that make new ones, actually do their own castings, in some cases they are better than OEM. I’ve had good luck with Autex so far. Found one for 229.
