Hi Scotty
I am interested in trading my Hyundai Sonata for a used car that will better handle New England winters and off roading situations that involve backcountry camping and hiking trails. I am keen to the idea of an older car with high ground clearance and awd that is highly reliable in order to save money. Do you think this would be a good idea or do you think i should shoot for a newer car? Budget =$15000 or as low as $7000
2006 Honda CR-V comes to mind as well as Subaru, Toyota etc

Honda CR-V & Toyota RAV4 would be ideal for your requirements, but if your #1 priority is AWD, then look at Subarus too.
Get rid of that Hyundai before it starts to fall apart.
