99 GMC Jimmy has to turn over 5 or 6 times before it starts when it's cold.

I've turned the ignition key on to prime it three or four times before attempting to turn it over and it makes no difference. I change the plugs the router the cap I was getting an error code p1416 but after I change the plugs and the router cap last time I erased this it hasn't reappeared. Seems like even when it's not completely cold it could be sitting for 2 hours and it's still a little warm it still takes a couple of times before it starts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Engine is a 4.3 l V6

First thing I would do is to check your fuel filter, then the fuel pump itself. Since that is an S10 in SUV form, the filter may be between the tank and engine on the driver's side frame rail of the truck. I'm not sure on that. You shouldn't need to turn a key 3-4x with a properly running fuel pump and clean fuel filter to start it. The intial turn to run and start should be all it needss -the system is always under pressure unless something is clogging it, or the pump is failing. A cold engine needs more gas to start, and a hot engine needs less, which would explain the stubborn cold starts, but not hot starts.
