My friends dad has a Hyundai Sonata 2012 with 169000 miles and i love how it looks but im just not sure whether i should buy it from him. the engine was replaced im not sure when but the new one has 90000 miles on it. is it more reliable than my Nissan Sentra 2012 with 64000?

No. Get a Toyota or Honda. They are only good when new until about 100-120K miles.

My daughter has a 2010 Sonato and I have been pleasantly surprised with mechanicals.  However, paint, door switches, regulators and other plastic bits not so much.

In my opinion the fact the engine has been replaced is a huge red flag. Your Nissan also has less miles. In this particular case I would steer clear of the Hyundai but that's mainly due to the vehicle history.

Hi Erik,

Nissan sentras are designed to be driven between 60,000 to 70,000 miles before needing major repair

That the engine has already been replaced, the miles and my personal experience with Hyundai i would walk away from this one.

If you are looking for a change the Toyota Honda or Lexus and you will be a lot better off.

Be sure to get a pre purchase inspection from a mechanic you trust.

It does not hurt to start looking, there are a lot of cars out there , wait for the right car in the right condition at the right price.

Hope this helps some
