No one can tell me why my 2012 Kia Optima EX Turbo 2.0starts itself whenever it wants to. Sometimes it happens at 3:00 a.m. Or any time. It has a dual exhaust system, so it is loud enough to wake me up. It happens at grocery stores, and recently at a federal courthouse a U.S. Marshal approached me to say my car was running outside parked in front of the courthouse. Been going on for several years.
I tried putting fobs inside lined pouches to prevent signal transmissions. Didn't work. Car obviously has a self-starter, but I have no idea how to use it. Don't think it works. Probably needs to be reprogrammed. Dealer wanted a fortune to reprogram.
They said they couldn't figure it out, but noted there was some packrat wire damage. I just pop off the battery cable now, which is a pain.
Anyone have this problem? Former owner told me it has some kind of low battery sensor that automatically starts the car to charge the battery. No one I know ever heard of such a thing. Could he be correct?
Thank you. Love your videos!
- Well unfortunately you're probably needs to be reprogrammed. That or someone in your neighborhood might have a wireless device that happens to be in the same frequency and keep starting your car. Electromagnetic interference can do strange things
Appreciate the response. I guess I will bite the bullet and have fob reprogrammed. Thank you. Watch your videos almost daily and forwarded your channel to my GF.
