2012 Kia Optima Hybrid ECU

Topic starter

I've diagnosed the ECU to be faulty so I'm looking for a replacement however after some research I can't come to a conclusion whether or not it needs to be pre-programmed or If I can just buy a used one. I've looked at a couple pre-programmed ecu sites and they have pre-programmed ecu's for the non hybrid version of that year and even the hybrid versions of newer years but for my exact model and year I cannot find one. If anyone knows anything on this your help would be much appreciated, thank you!

You would never buy a part like that used at all. You can get it pre-preprogrammed but you need a Hyundai/Kia/Genesis mechanic. The best option is buy a new ECU. You could find some luck with a remanufactured one but I wouldn't recommend that.

Or you could junk the vehicle.
