Hello, has anyone have an idea what could've happened? I was driving normally on a highway and when I got to town I started accelerating and the engine just reved up with no go, I released the gas and pushed again and started going again. Then later on at the light slightly pushing on the gas same thing happened again. Then I stopped in a parking lot and tried to put in reverse and I heard grinding noise and some small bang and then it did not move to reverse. I was able to drive 0.2 miles back to my apartment but the transmission was grinding and making bad noises. I killed the engine and started again and I can hear something doesn't sound right, put in reverse and immediately warning light came on that said "shift to p". I am freaking out and don't know why it happened and what caused it. Any help is appreciated.
Mileage is 207k, mostly highway.
Clarification: Mileage on the vehicle?
How many times have you changed the transmission fluid and filter in 207,000 miles? If it wasn't about every 40,000 miles, your transmission is probably gone.
I bought it used with about 200k on it. The problem is I took it to a mechanic to inspect it and look for a weird noise that was coming out when maintaining speed and couldn't find anything and said my car was perfectly fine and no issues at all.
Tow it to a transmission shop who works on Toyota/Lexus cars for diagnosis. Do not drive it.
Yep...worst thing is that it was in a ship 2 days ago and they told me nothing is wrong at all with it.
