Hi,

I am receiving a p0705; and check engine light, Check AWD system, TRAK off- with no white reverse light - when reversing - and dash is no longer indicating what gear is the car in.

I had a mechanic I trust replace the Toyota original park/neutral switch - and then cleared the codes - but the error code and the dash error lights came back on.

I think its the relay now, but not sure.

Please advice.

-----situation-----

the problem started when - I was trying to add a backup camera to my 2012 RX350 - buy removing the current backup camera, and using the same wiring to add the new aftermarket camera to.

The problem I kept running into was the factory camera was designed for 6V and the aftermarket was 12v, and I believe that the factory camera had some short of a chip included that allowed it to work, but not my aftermarket camera, ( if I would turn the car with the factory camera attached - but then I would switch the wired to the aftermarket camera -  I would see the grainy image. --BUT if I would turn the car on with after market camera preinstalled - then the car would not pick up the camera at all.

needless to say, I was unsuccessful at the installation - but I received the "p0705; and check engine light, Check AWD system, TRAK off- with no white reverse light - when reversing - and dash is no longer indicating what gear is the car in."

Please don’t double post, thanks.

Dumb question:  since you received the code after the (unsuccessful) install what happens if you revert back to the original camera configuration?  Hopefully, you documented as you went so you could “easily” revert back.  In hindsight it seemed more trouble than it was worth upgrading to the new camera.

I put everything the way it was, but no resolution

Well you put 12 volts on a 6 volt system there's no saying what happened but I would assume it has destroyed some type of computer module driver circuit. Computers operate on 5 volts you put 12 volts it messes everything up

I used the 12 V from reverse lights as a power source to the camera - but wired the video feed directly to the factory wiring.

it tested out the configurations more than 30 times, but then I opened the camera housing to see the why it wasn't working, that is when the Check AWD system, TRAK off- with no white reverse light - when reversing - and dash is no longer indicating what gear is the car in.

I am assuming and hoping that I shorted a wire possibly, and hoping its not the computer module.

I am taking the car to Lexus and have them run diagnostic - and find out - any thoughts?

So much for the value of back up cameras.  You are going to need an Electronics PhD to figure out how you screwed up your electrical system.
