I have a 2013 5.0 F150 with about 66,000 miles. Whenever I fill up my gas tank half a tank or more, my truck stutters when it starts the first time, and on 3 occasions had died completely. After that, it starts and runs perfectly fine til the next fuel refill, even on the occasions where it turned off. Any ideas?
Probably fainted at the price per gallon {black}:scared:
EVAP control system, solenoid, canister, etc.
I would try a new gas cap and see what happens first. Any check engine light or trouble codes?
It's one of those built in plugs that newer vehicles have where it doesn't have a gas cap. Also, no check engine lights or codes or anything and as far as I can tell no problems past the first 30 seconds of starting the truck after fueling up
Maybe the Evap Purge Valve is stuck open. Try firmly tapping on it with the handle of a screwdriver before getting gas.
I have one of those things on a 2019 F-150. Can you tell if the flap is closing all the way tight? My owners manual briefly discusses clearing possible debris from the filler neck. See what your manual says.
As a simple test you could try covering the flap with a piece of duct tape after refueling to see what happens.
