Looking at high mileage Impala, Camry

Looking at two cars, each being sold by a mechanic: a 2015 Impala fleet with the 3.6 and 160,000 mi- $6800 and a 2007 Camry SE with the 3.5 V6 and 250,000 mi- $4800

The Impala has been owned by this mechanic for about 30,000 mi. He says he hasn't had to put anything into it, been a good car

This garage selling the Camry bought it from a family member, went through it, drove it for a while, and offered it for sale.  They said it doesn't use oil, and needs nothing. It appears to have been well maintained, no rust, etc, but I haven't looked at it yet.

Thoughts? I realize both of them have a good chance of needing a transmission in the next 5 years or so.  I read also that changing a water pump on the Toyota 3.5 is a 4-hour job.

To be honest, I'd pass on both cars. Chevy quality is horrible and worse at high mileague. Plus, don't trust anyone. Was the mechanic wired to a lie detector? I don't think so. Toyota is the king of reliability. But 260,000 miles is too much. It's better to keep looking.

Neither.

Thanks for the thoughts.  Are these later 3.6 engines subject to the timing chain issues like earlier versions?
