Hi Scotty, I have a 2013 F150 Lariat (automatic w/the 3.5 ecoboost), has 170k miles, that i regularly maintain and take good care of (including "major" proactive maintenance; i.e. timing chain replacement at 100k). Yesterday it threw a code (p2096 - Post catalyst fuel trim, system too lean bank 1), and while checking the plugs and coils, plug well for cylinder 2 had oil in it (the tube seal looks like it was not installed/seated correctly). Wouldn't I have noticed this issue before this particular code was prompted? in other words, wouldn't a misfire code be given instead, or could oil in the plug well be enough to actually cause the p2096 code? im hoping the catalytic converter isn't shot, but i guess at this mileage, it may not be too out of the realm of possibilities. Thanks for your time, Scotty!

What makes you think that? Depending on how much oil leaked and where it landed it may not have had any effect at all.
wouldn't a misfire code be given instead,
Are there any misfire counts in the live data? Problems have to reach a certain level before codes are triggered.
The P2096 code you're seeing is for a lean condition. A misfire would cause the opposite since unburned fuel would be getting into the exhaust.
im hoping the catalytic converter isn't shot
It may not be. Have you looked up the potential causes of P2096? While a bad catalytic converter is possible it is not the most common trigger for that code.
