I have been getting a catalytic converter error off and on for 2 years.
It will just show up on error lights....take to auto zone they tell me....and 2 days later lights go off.
The last time it happened....the engine will turn over but not crank....then 15 min later it is fine. Next day took to auto zone and got the catalytic converter issue....
It is bugging me.....it runs fine to me and no issue accelerating....I don't want to fix something not broken....and don't want to get stranded in Los Angeles where i have to work often.
What do you think it is? Slow die....
It can be a couple things but I'll just name the 2 most probable. The cat is slowly going bad and the computer is a little confused. You can drive a car like this for many years before anything starts to happen. I've seen cars go 8 years before cat started causing drivability issues. Number 2.. your oxygen sensor(s) are going bad or you have a inconsistent rich or lean fuel mixture. . Want the check engine light to go off, you have to fix the issue.
