Hi,
I have a 2013 Infiniti G37 coupe journey with 73k miles.
Car is finally paid off and I’m planning to get a dyno tune next week. It was recommended to me that I get my spark plugs and transmission fluid change.
Do you recommend a flush or replacement for the auto transmission?
Do you also recommend any other services I do to the car before tune? Or, just any services I should do with this mileage? Been watching your vids for years and I’m aware of the “potential problems” these cars get when they age. Thank you!

Always drain and fill. Never, ever flush.
Is there any reason you are planning on getting a dyno tune on a stock car? That's a lot of money for basically not much to be honest. If you are planning mods and just want a baseline tune, I'd have the same shop that is going to do your mods do it. It is important to get your baseline tune on the same dyno so as to make it most accurate.
Sorry, just curious.
Hi,
I currently have some HKS catback exhaust and Stillen Gen 3 CAI. The original plan is to get it tune. I feel like right now is the right time. However, I live in LA/OC. So, the only “legal” mods I can put is the catback and CAI. And the tune, no one will know it’s a tuned car. Plan is to keep this car as daily as I save up for a GT-R possible next year. The GT-R will be my weekend car.
Thanks for the feedback, no need to apologize!
No disrespect, full flush for me.
Full synthetic.....
Flushing is a bad idea. You are taking a high pressure machine and hooking it up to a very delicate system. Any kind of small metal pieces of debris in the transmission from wear and tear get dislodged and suddenly you have a freshly flushed transmission with slipping/grinding or even a ruined transmission. Drain and fill and filter replacement (if you have a filter....some do not) is the way to go on that.
not taking any sides here. I'm just going to point out that the flush machines I've seen are not pressurized. They use the flow of fluid that the transmission experiences during normal use.
And I will follow that with the statement that in most cases, a flush is totally unnecessary.
Agree or disagree, a subject matter than will continue to be debated.
I agree. Tbh, I probably spend half a day reading stuff on this online. People are suggesting both.
Thank you, both of you for your opinions!
A trans service on that trans is two drain and fills and it’s all temperature related but even from the dealer that’s what it calls for but again you have to know the temp of the trans fluid in order to do it correctly and the spark plugs on that car aren’t actually due until 105k miles
Thank you. Regarding spark plugs, I even read on the owners manual that it should be replaced at 100k. However, when I spoke with the dyno place, they suggested I should replaced it before the tune. 🤷🏻♂️
100k is fine, iridium plugs hardly ever fail....
