my belt fell off the car one morning when i went out to drive. i’m going to replace my belt and im seeing i only have 7 pulleys. i see on the top right where there is like 2 bolt holes. i’m pretty sure there should be a smooth pulley there but it’s somehow not there. mind you this in my daily. i’m at tripping or am i looking at the wrong diagram? am i supposed to have 8? it is the 3.7. sadan if that changes anything
am i supposed to have 8? it is the 3.7.
I suppose yes. I suppose you have a VQ37 engine. Does it look like the same as in the video?

@g-t yes vq37 and i watched the video it’s the smooth one that’s it’s missing. thank you for sharing the video. if you see the second pulley that he removes is the one i’m missing. i find it very weird that it just fell off
You are welcome. I'm glad it helped you. So, the 'noisy' one? Did the bolt just unscrew or is there still a snapped thread in the hole?
@g-t no the bolt didn’t snap i replaced it with no problem. it didn’t unscrew on its on i took it out with a 14mm wrench. but the other pulley that missing should be a smooth pulley. i just fund it very odd that my daily driver just randomly loses a whole pulley
am i supposed to have 8?
Have you consulted a service manual for your vehicle? That may shed some light on it.
@chucktobias thank you for the link that actually makes it much more easier for the diagram! but yes there’s definitely 8 pulleys and i only have 7. how would a pulley fall off my car? i drove it to work and when i was leaving i started it up and that’s when i noticed my battery and brake light was on the found out my belt fell off. i previously had a noisy idler pulley it was the grooved one so i went ahead and replaced that. as im putting my new belt and looking at the diagram i noticed the pulley missing. very odd to me but i’m by far not no mechanic but i don’t think a pulley falling off is normal. maybe something else happened?
@woodley8900 If you bought the vehicle used a previous owner probably deleted the pulley. (If it were even possible for it to fall off when you were driving the fan belt would have gone with it.)
@chucktobias so why would someone decide to delete the pulley? is there benefits?
@woodley8900 Depends on the vehicle.
