I just bought a 2013 Kia Soul and I remembering you suggesting a certain oil for GDI engines that had a specific additive in one of your videos but I can’t find that video again. The previous owner (my uncle) was very good about charging the oil every 5k miles with synthetic despite what Kia suggested. I drive around 4,000 miles a month mostly on the freeway. What oil and filter would you suggest. And it’s a manual transmission car was wandering if it’s bad to float gears on one of these little Cars.

You have our sympathies, those are notorious for engine problems (including total engine failure) as well as a variety of other maladies.

Scotty recommends GF-6 oils for GDI engines. Since that engine was not designed for the recent 0W16 "GF-6B" oils you should use "GF-6A" specification in the viscosity recommended in your owner's manual.
