My girlfriend has a 2018 Toyota c-hr 4 cyc auto with 65, 626 miles. She took it to the local Toyota dealership for a rear brake change and an oil change and they gave her a laundry list of stuff.
world standard transmission flush 212$
Coolant drain and flush 124.99$
Brake fluid service 165$
Fuel induction service 166$
air filter (cabin) 47$
there is currently no issues with the trans it shifts fine
most coolant last years
I’ve never heard of a brake fluid service before
and not sure about the fuel induction system maybe injection service
Does She need any of these or are they just trying to get 900)
I do have photo of quote
At 65K miles you should be changing the transmission fluid, but just a drain and fill, not a flush. (Wait too much longer and it may be too late.) "Fuel induction service" is fluff, they'll probably pour a $10 bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner in the tank. As I'm sure you realize, brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and should be changed at intervals of several years to avoid hydraulic system problems. However "brake fluid service" could mean they just look at the fluid and top up if needed. If coolant is original after 7 years now is a good time to change it.
Don't go to the dealer for anything except warranty and recall work. Find a good local mechanic for your routine service needs. (Also stay away from chains like Pep Boys, Midas, Firestone, etc.)
The service writer at a dealership usually works for a commission so his motivation is to sell you parts and services whether you need them or not. Maintenance items are normally mentioned in the owners manual.
Transmission flush, no. Drain and fill, yes.
Initial coolant can go up to 100K miles, but every 5 years or 60K miles is best.
Brake fluid should be changed periodically. Recently discussed here: https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/brake-mantiance/#post-325898
Fuel induction service isn't needed.
Cabin air filter can be bought for much less and installed yourself, it's easy to do.
Fuel induction service 166$
skip
air filter (cabin) 47$
Do it yourself for a fraction of the price. The filter costs around $12-$20 and takes 2 mins to replace.
most coolant last years
5 years usually. Check the bottle.
I’ve never heard of a brake fluid service before
it's real , but you probably have time. 100k might be a good milestone to do it.
