Found a Lincoln MKX with 70,000 miles on it. This one has the naturally aspirated 3.7 V6 (I believe the same V6 they put into F-150’s). Would this be a reliable vehicle? I have had great success with my 07 F-150 having 175k miles with no mechanical issues so wondering if this F-150 engine in this SUV would have the same reliability?
You would think since it is the same engine, it would be reliable. Alas, this engine has some nuances to it.
If the engine is longitudinally mounted, it is a decent engine. I believe in most F150 trucks, they are longitudinally mounted.
However, there is a probably when they are transversely mounted. They relocated the water pump to be driven by the timing chain, and a water pump failure is catastrophic to engine. I am 99% sure the MKS is transversely mounted.
