[Solved] Trans stays in low gear, slow acceleration

2013 Mitsubishi Lancer ES automatic 180,000 miles

Went to start it, it fired right up but I couldn't get it out of park. So I did the by pass with a screwdriver next to shifter, now problem, and took it for a short drive. It is slow to accelerate and  stays in low gear, and the indicator light says slow down (even while I'm not moving).

Changed Transmission fluid and filters, no change. Could anyone suggest the next option I should try?

  Thank you, Tami

Sounds like your transmission may be shot. That mileage is way longer than those Jatco CVTs usually last. It needs to be evaluated with a professional-grade scan tool that can read the transmission codes and data.
