Hey there Scotty. I have a 2013 Maxima with just over 107k miles. I just took my vehicle to the dealer and they told me I need a new CVT. I had it replaced once under the CPO warranty about 25k miles ago! I brought the vehicle in 2-3 times before the warranty ended telling them there were issues with the CVT and they said they were unable to diagnose it. Service rep said to call Nissan North America and they won't do anything about it. Overall a very disappointing ownership experience for what was almost $40k car when new. What should I do with this Nissan? Dealer wants $8700 to fix the transmission and a few other minor issues. Also finally listened to you and bought an 06 4runner! Thanks for all you do Scotty!
What are your symptoms with the CVT?
I’ve never seen one of theses cvt’s fail in 25k I would have to think it was over or under filled from the start of the cvt is a he actual problem… I would need codes stored or a little more to go on in the way of symptoms or the drive ability concern. Kinda sad but even in some dealers it’s quick to condemn the cvt even if that’s not the problem. If codes or more detail can be supplied it would be very helpful
Didn’t they give you any warranty on the new transmission they put on? If not, get rid of that junk.
good decision
If you can, I'd get rid of it. The transmission is more than what the cars worth. And the mileage isn't super high but still not worth it imo.
Try and get rid of it ASAP.
Two option
Used it as weekend toy
Or trash it
The replacement trans if bought new from Nissan would have a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty.. could you supply codes or info as to what condemned the cvt as being the failure?
