Hey scotty!

I have a 2013 Ram 1500 with 94,000 miles, and my electric rack and pinion stopped working.  Unfortunately my truck year doesn't fall under the recall vin number so it is not able to get fixed for the recall policy. I was wanting to consult with you about what if I purchased a used electric rack and pinion. Would I have to reprogram it in order to work? Or would you recommend taking it to the dealership?

Get a new or reman one with a warranty and avoid a dealer at all costs.

I wouldn't advise it. You could just end up in the same situation, only poorer.

It's something that should be installed professionally.

Sure if you like paying 5x more, and then having your truck returned to you with more problems than you started with.
