Hello! We bought a second hand 2013 Toyota Corolla automatic transmision form a dealership 42,000 km. Since we are first time buyers we did not notice when we test drive it months ago that it encounters resistance when shifting form park to drive or park to reverse. However, there are also times that it will shift smoothly form the park to drive or park to reverse. Is there a serious problem on the car? Thanks
It could be as simple as the linkage between the shifter and the transmission - not easy to get to,to lubricate, but a lot cheaper than an internal transmission problem.
Thank you so much for the information.
Did you park on a non flat surface?
We observed it even when it is parked on a flat surface. Only when we are shifting from a park to other gears that it will show resistance. However, shifting to other gears is smooth.
