We are thinking of purchasing a 2013 Highlander SE from a dealer. It is AWD auto trans with 85000 miles and has a good service record. Price 20,000, ouch but as we research other dealers some are asking that for 110,000 miles. What are your thoughts. We watch your u tube channel all the time and value your opinion.
Thanks
Realize that dealers overcharge you for cars. So if you see a car they offer is less expensive than other dealers, there is a high chance that the car has some issues. If you like the car, Your best bet is to find a good honest mechanic to go through the car completely before purchase.
Purchasing anything from a dealer is a major red flag. I'd look for a private party sale and have it checked out by an independent mechanic. What do you mean by "good service record?" Did they show you just some boxes checked on a form or the actual receipts for work that was done?
What do you mean by "good service record"? If you mean CarFax, then that is unreliable. Plus, that's a little too much money here. I would look at something else.
That is a ripoff price for a 10-year-old Highlander. For a little more you could buy a new Corolla! Best to stay away from dealers unless you're buying something new in which case there is of course no choice.
