Car: 2013 VW passat, 2.5L I5, FWD 6 speed automatic, 150k miles, no codes
Recently I have been experiencing strong vibration from the front of the car when the car is trying to accelerate in the 2000-3000rpm range. This doesn't happen during hard acceleration when the RPM increases very fast. It happens more when the car is already in that range and i try to accelerate. This happens more likely going uphill. The car would shake before downshift and after downshift if RPM is still in that range. During vibration, I can feel the the power output is down. But it never last a long time, maybe just 5s. When it happens, i usually just let off the gas and put it in manual shifting and shift down to 4000rpm ish and it goes away.
Any ideas where to start? Just replaced the CV axle recently, so thats not the issue.
at least three years ago, thats when i bought the car. Im hesitant about changing the transmission fluids bc i dont know if the previous owner has serviced it or not
If the transmission has not been serviced in 150K miles that is definitely not good news. See the FAQ for detailed information on evaluating the condition of your transmission fluid and the issues to consider if thinking about changing the fluid.
Sounds like a possible transmission problem. When is the last time the transmission was serviced?
