Hey Scottie! Love your show. I learn a lot from it. I have a 2014 BMW 535D as in diesel. It’s showing a etc code P2459. The scanner says that the code stands for :diesel particulate filter regeneration frequency. Does this mean i need to replace the DPF? Or somehow clean it? Are there any steps to narrowing down what the problem is? If you don’t know, is there any source that you can point me to that can help me find out more? Thank you

Man those BMWs are so complex have you been putting the fluid incorrectly and using the right fluid if not you know you need to start doing that but if you have generally it means the filter is going bad and they cost a fortune but if it runs okay most guys will just live

As far as i can tell the Bimmer, since its is a Diesel engine with 144k miles on it, it take the DEF fluid. No evidence of it receiving any other fluid other than what it’s required. The particulate filter itself cost around $2500, but i read on some forums that say, it can be cleaned. Just wanted to get a professional opinion on what options are available with dealing with this problem. The car though runs great, just the check engine light is on. Mainly just asking to learn more about the vehicle and see if I can get pointed in the right direction.
