mr kilmer, 2017 november bought used 2.7k miles auction car, 15000$. Use 5w-30 synthic burn or (leak) 500 ml. If use 0w-20 burn (alot 2000ml ) now every 5000 miles oil change. First three year use valvoline, last year use costco kirdland 15$ per 1.25 gallon, maybe because of IT?
Now, 131k miles, 5w-30 synthic burn or (leak) 1500 ml oil now, botton pan dry as bone.
Will new lucas low viscosity oil stabilizer 12 oz new (formula) put it in will it slow down the leak or burn or use at205 every oil change?
i saw valve cover gasket on rightside had oil , just change the new oil cap with better gasket. Haven't change valve cover gasket yet. Whats ur opinion? I want to last 300 k miles delivery car.
Did my best to clean up post to make it easier for our members to follow.
Bless you!.
If you don't see drips onthe ground, your engine burns the oil. Change the PCV valve and do the dry and wet compression test.
You can change the pcv valve and see if it that helps.
Kirkland synthetic oil is fine for 5000 miles. I would stick to 0-20 specified by Toyota. If you are using 2 quarts of oil every 5000 miles, you have a pretty big leak that will leave drops on the ground or you are burning a lot. As jpparisio said, you may have a clogged PCV valve (a pain to change on this engine if 4 cylinder).
Either the cam positioning sensor is bad or out of adjustment or your timing belt/chain has stretched and is throwing the timing off.
You need a new engine. Get a compression test and find out for sure.
iwill change pcv first valve first thx all Oem or aftermarket is fine? pcv valve
I would use the OEM as you may have to pull the intake manifold to access it. There is a YouTube video showing how to reach it from the wheel well. If it is clogged, consider adding an oil catch can.
thx
