Hi Scotty,
Have a 2014 Chevy Malibu LS with 194,000 miles, automatic. Been having an intermittent starting/stalling issue when my vehicle (equipped with Auto Stop) goes into Auto Stop. I had to replace my alternator, battery (Main and Aux), cable both positive and negative, as well as current sensors and fuses. So just trying to see what is causing that issue that has happened since buying the car at 77,000 miles. Thank you.
I would like to entertain an observation for your consideration. An engine suffers the most wear at start up.
You have a higher mileage vehicle.
On a good day that auto stop might be saving you 6% on fuel mileage per gallon.
So with today's fuel prices you're saving about 15 cents a gallon and beating the hell out of your engine with multiple start ups on short trips (if you encounter a lot of traffic lights).
I'm not familiar with the 2014 Malibu but it seems that there's a button near the bottom of the middle console, below the shifter, which allows you to turn the auto stop feature off.
Have you considered just not using auto stop?
