Good day,
I am contemplating buying a 2014 Dodge Dart , can you advise if they are problematic ? i will have the mileage in the morning .
Avoid that.
Yes, Usually they are very problematic.
It's basically a cheaper Chrysler 200 and those already were of questionable quality, further more it shares a platform with some Alpha Romeo cars.
It was offered with either a 2.4L Chrysler engine (I see a lot of bad things about them online), or with a 1.4L Alpha Romeo one (Good luck getting it repaired).
The transmission it was commonly offered with is the "C635 DDCT" and it stutters even in it's name 🤣. As far as the conventional automatic, according to the web - they're made by Hyundai and that's not a bad thing, but quite honestly, even a Hyundai is better than a FCA product.
In these years, in that segment, you want to avoid the: Chevy Cruze, Dodge Dart, and the Ford Focus - all have reasonably sharp exteriors, cool sounding names with matching first letters for both the make and the model BUT they're all flawed designs in my eyes that tend to cause a lot of issues.
I recommend getting a different car, if you can get a Mazda3 made in the same year (SkyActiv Engine + SkyDrive automatic), I herd Scion iM can be found for cheaper than a corolla (and it is just a rebadged European Corolla, but don't overpay for it as Scion doesn't exist anymore and I'd assume that getting body panels for it is a huge headache) or a Corolla if you can find one in that year range with low milage and a conventional automatic, or if you want something smaller a US YARIS (rebated SkyActive Mazda2) can be alright if you're ok with it's brakes (a lot of people complain they're too weak on the Euro model and I'm unsure if the US model has the same deficiencies)
Thanks
If you really want a Dodge Dart you'd be better off looking for a 1970s model.
