my mom has a 2014 chevy equinox her brakes make a noise as if the rotors were warped and I think its her rear rotors because I would think correct me if I'm wrong but I would think if it was the front rotors you would feel it in the peddle and steering wheel. Thanks
Warped front rotors - steering wheel shaking
Warped rear rotors - brake pedal shaking
What kind of noise are the brakes making? Are the brake pads still sufficiently thick?
@inthrustwetrust
I'm not sure if the brake pedal shakes I just got the info from my mom but I do know the steering wheel doesn't shake BC I watched it
@inthrustwetrust
The shop only changed the from and I told her they should've changed them all at once but she didn't listen
@Dakota
It’s fine if they only changed the front, as long as they changed it in pairs. You don’t need to change all 4 corners at once because front & rear brakes don’t wear evenly. Usually the front brake pads wear out faster than the rear because most of the braking is done by the front wheels.
Can you describe the noise the brakes are making? Squeaking? Grinding? Or make a video of the noise & post the link here.
@inthrustwetrust
Grinding as if there was a high spot in the rotors gets slower as you slow down
@Dakota
If the braking performance isn’t affected, I wouldn’t bother. Next time, use Akebono brake pads.
However, if it’s grinding due to a stone/debris stuck inside, you should be the rotors being scored and then you need to fix it. Otherwise, just live with it.
