I live in GA and emissions has to be done. My check engine light came on at 100,000, but my old mechanic now retired said it was emissions and if I could do certain things to it and reset light and run it for a while should pass emissions. I have done that for over 4 years now and have 183,000 miles on it and it has worked. However check engine light now comes on after just about 15 miles. I get a P0430 and P0420 code which could be cat or O2 sensors. I am hoping O2 sensors. Car still runs really well. I bought all 4 sensors to change out and have the tools to do so but am having a little trouble getting the front one off. I bought an air wrench to help but have not tried yet. Little nervous.
What I was wondering do you still work on cars for new folks. My daughter lives in Clarkesville, TN and did not know if I was up there if you would check out the car. I have learned a lot from you and have worked on my car myself, but being an Older lady it has been getting tough to do things. Did not know what advice you could give or was willing to take a look at my car. O2 seem simple to change out but mechanics (no offense) want to rip me off.
Thanks for taking the time to hear about my issue.

Although it may be a converter problem there are several other things that can cause those codes. See the site FAQ for info on contacting Scotty to make an appointment.
