Scotty, my mom’s 2014 Ford Explorer with 125,000 miles and an automatic transmission beeps and says that the transmission is not in park when it is clearly in park. The car has to be turned back on, shifted into drive and back into park for it to stop and even then that doesn’t always fix the problem. Wondering what would be the causing this. Is this a computer problem or something mechanical? Thanks.

Read codes with a scanner that reads all can bus and trans codes. Should point you to the issue. If lucky, just a bad internal trans wiring harness. Could also be shifter position switch. Need codes or else just guessing and going by stats on common failures... not necessarily the issue with your Ford.
