Looking at buying one of these trucks and it's been getting good reviews with minimal problems. But I still got a few question's some that have easy answers but doesn't hurt to ask.

1: how reliable is the eco diesel? I'm planning to tow around 6,000 pounds with it and use it as my daily driver. The truck I'm looking at has great service records but I've never heard anything good out of anything that has the word " ECO" in it.

2: I've heard that diesel engines are more expensive to fix is this just because you need a more specific mechanic to work on them?

the one I'm looking at is a higher trim level so it's sitting at a price of around 18k. it has 168k miles and it's a larime Will it be worth my time and money? thanks in advance.

Bingo! You broke the code! Pretty much any time you buy into something that is described as "green" or "ECO" you're giving something up and taking on a suitcase full of pain.

Do not, not not! buy a high mile eco diesel.  When they go bad, they can get real expensive real quick.

If you want a RAM from that generation, get the 5.7 hemi.  Way more reliable, and the difference in repair cost will more than offset the fuel cost.

The Ecodiesel is an Italian designed engine (by VM Motori), and one of the worst Diesel engines made.  Run away from it!
