- Hi Scotty,
my 2014 Toyota RAV4, 4 wheel drive, XLE, 70,000 miles, experiences a transmission shudder. Like driving over a washboard, when accelerating between 30-50mph. This happens more often when cold but seems to happen randomly between 30-50. Easing off gas or accelerating hard makes it disappear. Heard about bad torque converters on these. And some were recalled. Brought it to Springfield Toyota in NJ and they said they couldn’t duplicate the problem. Cleaned throttle body and sent me home. Still shudders. What should I do?
thank you,
mike
Well, I've seen that before and it was always something in the transmission, either the torque converter or the transmission itself. So since Toyota doesn't give a crap they probably drove it around the block and said oh, we don't know what's wrong. Take it to a real transmission guy who can hook up his fancy scandal and take it for a road test and when it's shutters he can look at the data that will show if it's the torque converter or if it's something internal to the transmission. It'll be expensive either way cuz even the dark inverter you got to pull the transmission off to fix the thing
