I just purchased a 2014 toyota tacoma dcsb 4x4 with a 6 speed manual transmission. It has 142,000 kms. When I'm shifting from 1st to 2nd, the revs seem to go up a bit, hang, drop, then go back up again. I added fuel injector cleaner, checked the air filter and no change. I've never experienced this before in a manual transmission car before. It makes for a lumpy gear change. Whats my issue?

Toyota is famous for malfunctioning electronic gas pedals. Check for corrosion at connections and proper function. Put an ohmeter on it and see if there is a dead spot somewhere as you move the pedal through its cycle.

I would also clean the MAF sensor and throttle body.
